Rev
Andria Benzie was born in 1957, in Swansea. At the age of four her parents moved from Wales
to Swindon, where she grew up with her younger sister.
Educated
in Swindon, Andria began her career as an office junior and progressed to Secretary/Personal
Assistant, working for a number of sales based companies. Andria moved to Scotland in 1990 with her husband Ian and family. She
has three daughters and one granddaughter.
Soon after moving
to Scotland, Andria received her ‘Calling’ to minister the Word of
God, and has served across a number of denominations in both a part-time and full-time capacity. She has
served in various ministerial capacities in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland. This has
involved teaching the word of God, Bible groups, public speaking and working with young people in youth and holiday clubs.
She has held positions as Secretary to a Fraternal; a chaplaincy at a residential home and acted as Local Organiser
for Christian Aid as well as conducting fundraising for national charities. Alongside these positions she
has ministered within a pastoral capacity offering support and counselling.
Andria studied at the University of Aberdeen and obtained a BD (Hons). She was ordained
into ministry during the latter stages of her study.
Whilst in Scotland, Andria has had opportunity to work in a number of communities within a social care setting.
This has involved working alongside all age groups and abilities, primarily dealing with physical and mental disability
and anti-social behaviour.
Andria moved from Aberdeen to take up her position as full-time Minister to Dundee Congregational
Church in November 2008.
